Leveraging more than 17 years of strategic sourcing and vendor management experience, Jim founded Pier Sourcing Group to help organizations optimize costs and improve operational performance. Before launching the firm, he served as Co-Global Head of Market Data Services at Chain IQ and held senior market data leadership roles at TIAA, Equitable, and Wells Fargo. Jim specializes in market data sourcing, vendor strategy, third-party risk management, and operational data acquisition for financial services organizations worldwide.

Jim brings 22 years of acquisition experience from the U.S. Department of Defense, where he progressed through contracting, procurement, and senior analyst roles supporting major aircraft and weapon-system programs and public policy. Expertise in requirements development, contract design, incentive strategy, and stakeholder alignment to portfolios exceeding $1B. He continues to provide commercial strategy consulting support to high-value Government technology programs.

Through his work with Pier Sourcing Group, he also supports financial services data and vendor-management initiatives, including new vendor discovery, market and third-party data relationships, emerging AI and cloud-data provider discussions, and commercial sourcing activity.

Meet our leadership Team

Prior to joining Pier Sourcing Group as Partner, Head of Data Strategy, Nicole led the Financial Services Technology Partnerships team at Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, she and her team supported AWS Financial Services Partners throughout their cloud transformation and adoption journey, supporting the co-build, co-market and co-sell of their solutions on AWS. Nicole has more than 20 years of experience working at Financial Services, technology, vendor and data firms.

Prior to joining AWS, Nicole held senior leadership positions in sales, trading, relationship management, strategy, and business development at firms including Bloomberg L.P., Barclays Capital, Benchmark Solutions, and Stone & Youngberg. In these roles she worked closely with a variety of customers including broker-dealers, investment banks, asset and wealth management firms, insurance companies, and electronic trading firms to support their business growth, strategic initiatives and technology transformations. Nicole is an active mentor and participant in affiliate groups such as Women in Fintech and Women in Leadership, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance & Organizational Management from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
